I’ve had the Roomba 780 for a few weeks now and I Love it! The main floor of my house is hardwood with a few area rugs. I think the roomba is perfect for this type of floor plan. I have bulldog in the house that sheds a fair amount and the roomba is great at cleaning up after him. I honestly cant believe how much it cleans up every night. If you have a pet and alot of uncarpeted space I think the roomba is totally worth it.

In reply to Ben Patterson. Maybe it has something to do with how thin or thick the cables are. My 780 does this thing where it stops and makes a funny noise, and then it usually lets go of the cables. Very handy. Cheers - Alice

In reply to Alice Chang. Yep, cables were a major hangup for the Roomba I tested; I guess it's just a matter of identifying the trouble spots and making sure you tuck any loose cables out of the Roomba's reach.

It’s great to see a review about Roombas that includes notes about “roomba proofing” a room. It does take some getting used to. Robots still aren’t able to deal with how chaotic the average house can be. I’m surprised it didn’t spit out the speaker cable. The new ones are usually able to figure out they’ve eaten a cable and try to spit it out. Kind regards – Alice

In reply to Sean. Hi Sean! Thanks for the update—and too bad about the dog hair. Keep us posted. (My Roomba review unit is long gone, by the way, and we're still deciding whether to get our own; we don't have any pet hair to deal with, tho.)

thanks for the review…going through the same review myself. It doesn’t seem to be handling picking up dog hair on the edges of our area rugs very well. Also having a hard time getting it to work in our open floorplan layout on our main floor. Any/all tips appreciated as at this point I’m likely to be sending it back after 30 days.
