Thank you this was bugging me so much, I had the unread mail icon on my iPhone but not on my iPad and didn’t know why – but now I have it back on my pad again and I also know how to turn it off on my phone when I’m away from work – thank you!!

Not true – that still doesn’t work for me and it’s making me crazy – I’ve turned off all notifications and it still notifies me for every email I receive. It’s just since upgrading to 5.0.1 though, previously it did not do this.

Unfortunately, there still doesnt’ seem to be a way to turn off the actual notification itself. Even if you switch everything to off, the phone still makes a sound and vibrates when a new mail comes in 🙁
