This did the trick! I didn’t bother (re-)installing Adobe Reader; relying on Safari in-built PDF engine to view PDF files inline. Thank you for the clear and very helpful instructions.

Hi, I tried to follow your instruction and delete the plugin called AdobePDFViewerNPAPI and restart safari. But it didn’t work and still asked me to download the PDF instead.

My safari is 6.0.5 and MacOSX is 10.8.4.

Do you know what else I should do?
