So, say you just typed a lengthy text message on your iPhone (or iPad, or iPod Touch), but you’ve had a change of heart and want to start over.
You could delete what you typed by tapping the backspace key a few dozen times, or you could select the text with your fingertip and tap “Cut.”
Or, you could try a third, well-hidden option: just shake your iDevice.
When you do (in the Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes, or Contacts apps, among others), a pop-up will appear with an “Undo Typing” button.
You can “redo” any typing you just undid by shaking your iOS device again.
Tap the “Undo” button, and whoosh—the text you just typed will disappear.
Change your mind? Shake again, and tap the “Redo” button.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to customize or disable the “shake to undo” feature. Wish Apple would do something about that? You can send them a suggestion right here.
