Hmmmm … here’s a question for you: how long is your commute to work? It’s possible your iPad is trying to fetch email and otherwise connect to the Net via cellular data while you’re between Wi-Fi zones. 

If you want to stop your iPad from “leaking” cellular data, you can always go to Settings and tap General, Network, then switch Enable 3G (or 4G) to “Off.”

By: Ron Aulbach https://heresthethingblog.com/2012/05/22/big-gig/#comment-2193 Thu, 24 May 2012 01:49:00 +0000 http://heresthethingblog.com/?p=10108#comment-2193 That is helpful.  So, why is it that my iPad shows usage on my cellular plan while I’m connected to wifi?  I will have the iPad (grd generation) on connected to my office wifi, and I’ve also had the cell data turned on while for a 8 hour work day.  I check my cellular data usage, and in that day, I’ve used 30-50mb of my cellular plan (2GB with Verizon).  I thought it would only use wifi if I was connected?  Why does it seem like I’m “leaking” cell data while on a fully functioning wifi?
