Yep, getting fast Internet in rural areas is still a tough one, and as you say, satellite Internet doesn’t really cut it.

If you have 3G or 4G cellular data reception out there, though (and I’m assuming you do, given you’re using a USB laptop modem), a 3G/4G hotspot might be an option—although if you stream too much video, you might end up paying a pretty penny for all that data.

Then again, if that’s the only option…

What is our best internet option for our new tv?

I’ll have mobile Wi-Fi for my iPad and laptop when I buy an iPhone this month. But I’d love to get rid of cable and just use apple tv. Plus, I hate the hassle of renegotiating every time my contract is up with Uverse.

Most mobile hotspot plans (including those for phones) only charge you for the data you use—so assuming you didn’t use any mobile data overnight, you’re probably fine.

On my phone, I have the option to “turn on” the portable wi-fi hotspot” when I want internet access via my laptop (when not at home). Well, I forgot to disable (turn off) this feature on my smartphone once home.  I did not use my laptop once home…but I’m nervous because this morning I realize that I didn’t turn off the hotspot.

Will I be charged for the overnight simply because the feature was active?
