Glad to hear. Were they able to roll your system back to Lion for you?

I contacted Apple and explained
that my 2008 iMac is not working right after installing ML. The person said they will REFUND THE COST. Here’s part of the email I got:
“Hello Vivian,
Danielle here from the MacApp Store. I understand that you would like to go back to OS X Lion because OS X Mountain Lion does not work well on your Mac. I can certainly appreciate your desire to get this issue addressed quickly. It will be my pleasure to assist you with this today. I have reversed the charge for “OS X Mountain Lion”. In five to seven business days, a credit of €15.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.”

I have a late 2009 Imac.  Same thing happened to me!! The Applecare people helped me get my imac started again, disk utility was no use! So Apple  told me to download Mountain Lion AGAIN from Applestore!! I had bad wifi dropping problems  when the mac woke from sleep and also had a non-working software update problem which I fixed with : System Preferences/Spotlight /Privacy – I unchecked all my external hard drives and re entered them and applestore is working again! Doing that has fixed the wifi problem too(so far) , which I still had after installing Mountain Lion the second time!!  Apple told me it’s the graphics chip in the Imac I have.  Maybe yours has the same chip.  I’m sure a software update will fix it but no idea when!!

Hmmm, not good. At least it sounds like you have a recent Time Machine backup, though. I’d recommend taking your iMac to a nearby Genius Bar & letting them tinker with it — maybe they can do a “clean” install of Mountain Lion on your system, & then you’d be able to restore your Time Machine backup with all your old data. Good luck!

Thanks for confirming that bad news!

I installed ML on my 2008 iMac and have serious problems since – briefly, the
system freezes, I restart using the on/off button, and get the ‘choose
language’ window then Utilities. But  I can’t restore, reinstall or
repair because the Mac HD does not appear. It takes many restarts with
comm+R (have tried restart+shift too), 2-3 hours, to get it working
again and it’s now happened 3 times. I do a repair each time and
according to Disk Utilities the Mac HD is ok so I’m thinking the problem
is ML.

Strangely, Lion has already been removed from the App Store so many people are now stuck with ML, whether they like it or not! I foolishly installed ML on my Macbook Pro too and am now worrying that problems will happen on it. The lesson  – wait when a new OS version comes out!

Hi Vivian! Unfortunately, it looks like you may be right—a simple Time Machine restore won’t do the trick. (I doubt it would hurt anything, but your Mac would probably still running Mountain Lion). I’m going to go ahead and edit the article to reflect this.

Anyway, what kind of problems are you having?

Someone said that installing ML ‘removes the Lion Recovery Partition’, so restoring from TimeMachine will not reinstall Lion. Somebody else said it will. I’m scared to try something that might make things worse!
