This is in when it comes to HDTVs at CES this year, and there’s practically no TV that’s slimmer than LG’s 55-inch, 4mm-thick HDTV, which uses an OLED (short for “organic light-emitting diode”) panel that makes for a lush, eye-popping picture. Nice, but there’s a reason that OLED TVs haven’t taken off in the consumer-video market yet: they’re outrageously expensive, which is why LG is billing this razor-thin beauty as the “future” of home video rather than the present.
