So, say you just typed a lengthy text message on your iPhone (or iPad, or iPod Touch), but you’ve had a change of heart and want to start over.
You could delete what you typed by tapping the backspace key a few dozen times, or you could select the text with your fingertip and tap “Cut.”
Or, you could try a third, well-hidden option: just shake your iPhone.
When you do (in the Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes, or Contacts apps, among others), a pop-up will appear with an “Undo Typing” button.
Tap the button, and whoosh—the text you just typed will disappear.
Change your mind? Shake again, and tap the “Redo Typing” button.
Note: Annoyed when the “Undo Typing” button (or a “Nothing to Undo” error message) appears when you didn’t mean it to? Bad news: for now, there’s no way to customize or disable the feature in the Settings menu.
Want to drop a note in Apple’s suggestion box about it? You can do so right here.
