This week: Amazon just unveiled its new Kindle lending library, which boasts about 5,000 books that you can borrow on your Kindle (the e-reader, not the app) for free—as long as you borrow only one a month, and once you join Amazon’s $79-a-month Prime service. Is it worth it?

Also: TV and radio audiences across the country were treated to the first “end-to-end” test of the Emergency Alert System, which would the nation in case of a natural or man-made disaster. Here’s the question, though: should social networks like Facebook and Twitter also play a role in the EAS?

Joining me this week are site co-founder Susan Leopold and here’s the thing contributor Adrianna Dufay.
